Featuring exciting panel sessions on , Building Beauty Businesses in Africa, Dermatology, Mental Health and Women Matters; the Glow Fest was definitely an event to remember. These were our top 5 highlights.
- The Women’s Matter Panel:The Women’s Health panel, subtitled ‘How Are Your Insides Doing?’ was perhaps the most vulnerable panel of the day, sparking a lot of conversation and awe on the different health conditions women go through.
This panel featured a strong line up of panelists, The Aproko Doctor, Chinonso Egemba; digital creator and Femme Health Africa founder, Miss Ima; actress and PCOS advocate, Stephanie Coker-Aderinoun; Dr. Stephanie Egboh, medical officer at Healthtracka; and Dr. Belinda Anderson. This panel spoke about conditions such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Endometriosis, and Fibroids; and the role of entertainment and storytelling in health advocacy.
Hearing Stephanie Coker’s experience battling PCOS while maintaining a prominent media career was shocking as guests got to learn about the many symptoms – missed or unending periods, male-pattern hair growth, acne, weight gain, among many others. Voices could be heard around the room as other women shared their own health experiences.
This session emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and diet in maintaining health and managing existing health conditions.
- The Maybelline Masterclass: The make-up masterclass powered by Maybelline NewYork was the chance for make-up experts and novices to learn from award-winning international make up artist, Bimpe Onakoya.
